My name is Åse Bergli

And how old are you?
I’m going to be 82 after New Year’s

And where are you from?
I come from Hedmark Stange

And how long have you lived here?
I’ve lived here for 15 years

And how do you like living here?
I like it a lot

How have things been since squatters moved in to part of the house?
I’m really fond of the people that have moved in here!

How have things changed for you elderly that live here?
Well, I don’t know that things have changed all that much, but the house is much more lively now, and we’re really fond of the young people

What was it like before they moved in?
It was quiet- we didn’t feel like there was anyone that cared about us

You say that now there are people who care- how do the squatters take care of the elderly that live here?

We think that- I’d say they’re our children! We’re old and
I only have one daughter, and she’s married now and lives in Italy.

Do you think you’ve changed your style of clothing since the squatters moved in? Maybe they have a different sense of style than you’re normally used to?

Well, the goodness shines through! So the superficial doesn’t mean anything!

Do you think you have nice clothing?
Sure! So these are my “children’s” clothing that I’ve got on!

What do you think it will be like here if the squatters have to move out?
I don’t think it will be nice at all. I think – maybe everyone, or at least maybe almost everyone, is glad that they are here.
